In December 2011, a lawsuit was filed against Roblox for copyright infringement, in which ROBLOX is accused of copying the entire codebase and game assets of "Infinity: The Quest to the End of the Universe". A cease and desist was also filed against ROBLOX in September 2012 by a head developer from the website Games Done Quick for using their copyrighted content without permission.

ROBLOX has also been criticised for not putting up a good enough amount of effort to make ROBLOX itself safer for players. The site is not very well secured and has been known to have exploits since 2010, like one in the "Spectator Mode" which gives users complete control over other users' games with no checks or balances. It also allows users to upload executable files onto ROBLOX servers without any notification and allows them full access to other user's games and accounts.

The site has been called "worthless" by users such as Brianna Wu, an independent games programmer and activist. She was also specifically referencing the site's lack of any kind of real economy.[10] There have been multiple instances where money and donations were sent to ROBLOX asking for some kind of update on a game which never came to life. She has asked for the company to be more transparent in regards to this situation and stated that she will not give them any more money until they actually deliver something.

The company has a 4star rating on Glassdoor with an overall rating of 2.5 and 13 reviews. This is the highest rated tech company based in the United States that employs over 1000 people. The reviews on Glassdoor were posted between 2014 and 2016 and highlight some of Roblox's positives such as competitive salary and possible career advancement, but also negative aspects such as mediocre worklife balance, poor management and lack of training in some departments. The overall rating is 2.5 stars, the lowest rating given on the site and 5 of all companies with a rating of 3 or higher.
